If there isn't an action going on in your area or you don't have a Chinese consulate near you, there are a bunch of different ways you can take part in the International Day of Action.
Political Theatre
- Gather your friends and family and stage a “Team Tibet” unveiling in a public, high traffic area in your city or town. Make sure to have images of Yingsel the Rangzen antelope available. You can download the Team Tibet logo, Yingsel image and flier, from the SFT website.
- Host a Team Tibet Relay Race, in a public area (at the mall, in front of a University, in front of a Chinese consulate or embassy) . You can get the Team Tibet logo and flier on the SFT website.
- Award “Olympic Medals of Dishonor” to the Chinese government. Get creative and artistic! Have your friends, family and community members make “Medals of Dishonor” out of materials you can find at a local art supply store and mail them to a nearby Chinese consulate. These medals can have “dishonors” for genocide, environmental destruction, and colonization amongst many. To find Chinese consulates in your area and their address go to: http://www.visarite.com/chnConsulate.htm
Online Organizing
- Tell all your friends on Facebook/Hi5/Myspace/Friendster to spread the news about the Great Wall 6, and Lhadon's uncensored tour of Beijing. You can find out more about them and their amazing action on the SFT Blog: www.blog.studentsforafreetibet.org and to check out all the uber-exciting details of Lhadon's adventures in Beijing: www.BeijingWideOpen.org
- Post videos and newspaper articles about the protest on the Great Wall onto your Facebook/Hi5/Myspace/Friendster and help get out the word out about these courageous activists who are currently being detained by Chinese authorities.
- Help keep the pressure on China and the IOC by calling or emailing them at:
BEIJING ORGANIZING COMMITTEE FOR THE OLYMPIC GAMES (BOCOG):
+86 10 6669-9185
mishubu@beijing2008.cn
INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE (IOC):
+41 21 621 6111
info@olympic.org
**Tell the IOC that Tibetans and their supporters around the world are calling on them to publicly oppose China's propaganda efforts, and to use its influence to affect substantive progress on human rights in China and a meaningful resolution to the occupation of Tibet.
**Let the IOC know that its silence is enabling China to continue its brutal oppression of Tibet while wrapping itself in Olympic colors.
**Let the IOC and BOCOG know that people around the world are concerned for the whereabouts of The Great Wall activists and they should use their influence to secure their safety.
