[Boston] Tibetan National Uprising Day

March 10, 2016 marks the 58th anniversary since the uprising of thousands of Tibetans in the nation’s capital of Lhasa. March 10, 1959 is a day that millions of Tibetans commemorate as a symbol of the nation’s collective struggle for independence.
To commemorate Tibetan Uprising Day, Tibetans and friends of Tibet in Boston will gather at Boston City Hall at 9:30 AM for a flag raising ceremony where the City of Boston will raise the Tibetan flag in honor of the March 10, 1959 uprisings. Speeches from community leaders and statement from international leaders will be orated in City Hall Plaza. This portion of the day will run until 11 AM. The second portion of the day will begin at 2:30 with a protest in front of the Massachusetts State House, directly followed by a march in Downtown Boston and end with a candle light vigil in the Boston Commons.
