Tibet has a rich and diverse culture with a 2000 yr old history of Spirituality, Buddhism and Medicine that they received from Indian Monks, Sages, and Gurus like Shantarakshita, Padmasambhava and many others. In fact in the 7th and 8th centuries, Tibetan students had been sent to study at the renowned Nalanda and Takshashila Universities in India. It is this Guru-Shishya relationship and the Royal Dynastic Lineage (as per certain historic findings its been stated that Tibetans have Indian origin) that has bonded both Tibetans and Indians for thousands of years and will continue to be the inseparable link between both nations and which we wish to highlight…

In this age of violence and hatred it’s best that spiritual cultures like the Ancient Tibetan culture be used to help spread the message of Peace, Compassion, Tolerance and Nonviolence…
Unfortunately Tibet ever since it was forcefully occupied by the Chinese, has undergone massive Human & Cultural Genocide, Inhumane Torture and Violation of Basic Human Rights, Destruction and Exploitation of Natural Resources, in the past 60+ years. What is worse is that the CPC is systematically erasing every trace of Tibetan Identity & Culture from the Global Conscientiousness, which we an NGO called SFT – Students For A Free Tibet (Delhi Chapter) are trying our level best to prevent. We are working for the Tibetan cause which is a growing Global movement, are committed to keeping the Rich Spiritual and Cultural Legacy and Identity of Tibetans alive.
Since Feb 13 is celebrated by Tibetans as Tibetan Independence Day, (as it is the day the 13th Dalai Lama Thubten Gyatso was enthroned and he redeclared Tibetan Independence after the Chinese representatives and troops were expelled in 1913), SFT (International) along with all its 650 chapters in more than 35 countries will commemorate Feb 13th with the “Celebrate Potala” theme this year, which will highlight the majesty, beauty, history and significance of the Potala Palace which is a designated a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994 and is also named one of the “New Seven Wonders of the World” by the newspaper USA Today in 2006.
Accordingly, SFT India (Delhi Chapter) plans to showcase Tibetan Culture by Organising a “Tibet Cultural Festival” to commemorate the occasion, highlighting the special ancient Indo-Tibetan connection, relationship and brotherhood that has been shared by both countries for Thousands of years that Includes
