[New York City] Tibetan National Uprising Day
March 10 @ 8:00 am - 7:00 pm
Tibetan Uprising Day, observed on March 10, commemorates the 1959 Tibetan uprising against the presence of the People’s Republic of China in Tibet. The failure of the armed rebellion ultimately resulted in a violent crackdown on Tibetan independence movements, and the flight of the Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso into exile.
This year marks the 58th anniversary of the Tibetan people’s peaceful uprising against the repression and occupation of Tibet by the People’s Republic of China. Under the leadership of The Tibetan Community of New York & New Jersey, the event will be jointly organized by seven organizations i.e., Utsang Association of New York & New Jersey, Domey Association of New York & New Jersey, Regional Tibetan Youth Congress of New York & New Jersey, Regional Tibetan Women Association of New York & New Jersey, Dokham Chushi Gangdruk, Students for a Free Tibet and US Tibet Committee.
We encourage all Tibetans living in Tri-State area to join the peaceful rally and show our support for our brave brothers and sisters in Tibet.
The peaceful march will begin at Cadman Plaza Park, Brooklyn.
