Protest Xi Jinping’s Failed Tibet Policy [London]

October 18, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Dear Tibetans and friends,

This October 18 when China opens its 19th Party Congress, Xi Jinping will continue his second term to further consolidate his power.

Xi’s leadership has been characterized by a wholesale effort to silence dissent across a range of issues, not least relating to China’s continued occupation of restive Tibet. Human rights experts widely agree that the situation in Tibet and across China has sharply deteriorated since 2012, perhaps illustrated most starkly by the deaths in custody of highly prominent human rights defenders; the Chinese dissident and Nobel Peace Laureate Liu Xiaobo, and Tibetan Buddhist leader Tenzin Delek Rinpoche.

Tibet Groups and supporters around the world will take action to highlight the grave consequences of Xi Jinping’s failed policies in Tibet and urge their Governments to collectively engage with other, like-minded governments to devise a solution to the situation in Tibet.

The Tibetan Community in Britain will organize a demonstration outside the Chinese Embassy in London this Wednesday 18th October. We, thereby, request everyone to join us in being a part of this collective effort.
