2018, will mark the tenth anniversary of the 2008 uprising in Tibet, a great landmark in the history of Tibet’s freedom struggle. It was the year Tibetans took to the streets by the thousands to take hold of their future. This marks an era of resistance led by a fearless new generation of leaders and activists in Tibet. While Xi Jinping extols his so-called “Chinese Dream,” a hollow lie aimed at covering up what remains a colonial nightmare for millions of people, Tibetans are demanding freedom and democracy and risking everything for their future. This is a generation of Tibetans who are not afraid of the Chinese government.
The journey to freedom will not be easy, but together with our combined actions, we will be one step closer.
