Shot by the Chinese Military: A Survivor’s Account by Christa M.

Christa Meindersma, a Dutch national, was shot during the protest in Lhasa on 10 December 1988. Join us to hear Christa’s electrifying first-hand account of her experience inside Tibet under China’s military rule.

(Christa Meindersma is the Co-founder of Himalaya Initiative for Culture and Society and an international lawyer with extensive experience in international collaboration and diplomacy. She was the former director of Prince Claus Fund, negotiator and senior political adviser to the United Nations, and worked for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Christa was involved in peace talks in East Timor, Nigeria, Cameroon, Kosovo, and Darfur, and has worked for the UN in Nepal, Congo, Kosovo, and New York. Christa first visited the Himalayas in 1985, and worked in Tibet between 1986 and 1988 and in Nepal between 1996 and 1998. She has since then maintained a keen interest in the region.)
